plants use CO2 for photosynthesis, but they also give it off as a waste product. why is this so?

is it because the plant cells have to go through cellular respiration with the krebs cycle and all...which produces the CO2?

i know we mentioned this this summer...but the spiders had some major web building in the back of my brain this school year...yeah. =(
